Sheer weirdness.

I just answered a call that I had ignored the last time because I didn't recognize the number.

The fellow very carefully and slowly told me he was looking for for Dirk Benedict, who used to play on the A-team?

So Dirk, if you're reading this, I have a phone number you may or may not want to call...

No, I've done registration, but not for years, and costume green room, also not for years. I think he just thought he'd stumbled into something wonderful. It's the really slow, careful speech that threw me more than anything else. And the call was from Ottawa, Canada.

Oh c'mon, how often do you get those kind of moments in your day where you actually have to stop a second and search for something to say?

Actually, while I heard the "Dirk Benedict" part OK, I thought he said 18 rather than A-Team. Doug had to retranslate for me once I got off the phone.

Can you charge him for being his receptionist?

I doubt it. I've at least MET Richard Hatch, and he charged me for his autograph.

I'm trying to imagine what the possible connection could be...and failing utterly. :)

Maybe we should email him. :)

You got that? I can call back the guy from Ottawa, CAN who called...

Well, I dunno specifically, but you could try here--best I could come up with on short notice. :)

Yanno, I don't think I care enough to do that for someone who talked to me like I was stupid when HE was calling Denver for someone who lives near Hollywood.

Besides, I'd put my bets on drooling fan boy, not business proposition, which is all they want there.

Good point. :) Though actually, he may live somewhere around Montana, as he was considering running for governer back in 2003. :)

Well, I went ahead and used the form, giving my phone number to see if it bore any resemblance to one related to Mr. Benedict. (Hey, that's the way I wrote it in the letter...). I offered to give them the phone number if they were expecting a call from Ottawa, otherwise not to bother to respond.

Oddly enough, his business has neither called nor written me since I sent the note several hours ago. And I've been sitting here holding my breath so nicely.

Wait! I've got it! Dirk Benedict and I both have phone numbers that contain digits!

Hi It's Me Mickey
I had to close down my old journal due to a small problem with it. But I have a brand new journal here now called "therivernews" and it fits me very well. So I just wanted to let you know. I've added you as a friend, so all you have to do is add me back and we can go on. I'm sorry for all the inconvenience.

Hugs hugs,

hello! I hope you don't mind but I came across your journal through random searching and after reading your bio thought you sounded extremely interesting. I added you to my f-list, I hope that's ok :)

I don't mind, and I'll friend you back on two conditions:

1) You've read and understood the disclaimer on my bio. I haven't been processing heavily recently, but it does happen. I have both mental and physical disabilities, and I figure if I can't whine here, where can I whine? :D

2) You understand that right now I'm really sporadic, as I'm working on my crochet teaching certifications. Once I'm done with those, I'll have more time to focus on LJ.

your bio is what caught my interest in the first place :) I've read it and I totally understand.

I also am rather sporadic at posting. I prefer to read. I've been on lj for over 2 years but I only have a small handful of friends simply because I'm kind of shy. Lj has been therapeutic for me because I suffer from depression from time to time and tend to be reclusive. It's nice to be able to come here and vent as well as get support from others who understand what depression is like.

Oh, I post variably; sometimes lots, sometimes a tiny amount. Right now it's small, later it will definitely increase, because I'll have stories to tell of teaching "normals" how to crochet. All my volunteer teaching was with other pagans, so was far more laid back than teaching at a store will be.

And I've lived with Major Depression for over 30 years, anxiety for 20, and PTSD since I divorced the bastard in 1988. One of my "causes" along with accessibility for the disabled, which often only becomes a cause when one becomes disabled themselves (at least I had an *interest* in it before the issue struck home...) is to remove the stigma from mental illness. It's not contagious, for crying out loud! (Unless you are 11-year old best friends who have been best friends since 5 -- apparently it's communicable that way. My kid picked up some of her buddy's symptoms.)

Anyway, most of my stuff is locked for several strange reasons. If you like, we can continue this on a locked post, even the latest Dirk Benedict post if you want.
