Pet Food Recalls, Warnings Multiply

I'll unlock this, propagate as necessary. Follow the link, there's more than I could post under Fair Use. Use the link or point back here, I don't care, I just want to get the word out.

I'm fortunate, so far, even with the expansion, my babies are not affected. The way this is going, that could easily change, though.

EDIT: There, that should be more readable. Doggone client, sneaking in formatting!

http://www.allcreatureshealingnetwork.com/articles/3/pet-food-recall-information-and-links.php

That site just went live yesterday, so it's a bit bare - but that article and the site links are a pretty good set of info.

Shoot. I'm hoping that the recall at this point has expanded past the clearly tainted gluten. Keep an eye on them, and I'll keep you and your critters in my thoughts.

So far, we dodged the bullet on the Iams and Misha doesn't eat the rest. And she won't eat biscuits. Thank goodness. Now let's hope it didn't get into the human food chain.

It appears so far that the distributor only supplied pet food firms.

Here's where the fact that I don't use a lot of prepared foods is handy -- although I do eat some.

I tossed all the treats I had in the treat container and replaced them with organics made without any wheat or wheat gluten. I tossed five pounds of generic dog food when I noticed it no longer looked the same as what I usually get in the bulk bin (which I had confirmed did not contain wheat gluten) and it was safer than feeding Faraday an unknown while waiting to hear what brand he was getting. He seems happy about the change. Especially the treats. Apparently organics are not only safer, they're yummier. Who knew? (LOL!)

I don't give him his customary dollop of canned food atop his dry anymore. I get whatever meat is cheap that week and stew it up with rice and carrots and sometimes green beans. And cheese if I have a bit to spare. And he's totally enamored of the combinations I've come up with. Next week it'll be lamb and barley because I got a lamb bone for my version of a seder and barley leftover from cock a leekie soup. I'm spoiling him, I know. But I'd rather he be spoiled than unable to show me how spoiled he is...

That makes perfect sense to me. If I had the time, energy, and stamina, I would be making the pups and cats their food. I don't, so I watch the announcements like a hawk.

I'll bet the organics are yummier. They are for people, too.

Hi there. My comment has nothing to do with your post, I just didn't want to take up anymore room in ar_wahan's journal. I would like to add you as a friend if you don't mind. I make it a habit not to add someone without their knowledge since adding them means getting to read their posts. I believe you should know when someone is reading what you post. So if you don't mind just reply to this comment and I'll add you. If you'd rather I didn't don't reply at all. No reply-no add. But I really would like to get to know you better. :-)

I just read your user info, and I'm quite interested. I'll ask you to read my user info -- it's got a disclaimer in it and I ask folks to agree to the disclaimer. I don't think you'll have a problem with it. Let me know you agree, and I'd be delighted to add you. In fact, if you add me, I'll take that as agreement and we can go from there.

I note your email is aliastarlitemoon. My name is Alia -- is yours?

No, my name is Drema. (pronounced Dream-a) I used that e-mail address because I was already using starlitemoon on LJ and I did it like alias-starlitemoon, minus an "s". The e-mail address I use most is dremaslifequest. I'll give you the rest of it in a post that is locked after we become friends. (thinking positive that I'll agree with your disclaimer) I'm heading out to check out your user info now.

I just read your user info-including your disclaimer-and I agree with your disclaimer 100%! I am a very open minded, non-judgemental person who is always looking to learn about others religious values. I have no problem with the type of things you say you often post about, and you can count on me for support-not judgement. Since we both are dealing with debilitating health issues hopefully we'll be a source of understanding/comfort to each other in that area. I have a feeling we'll be very good friends. I'm going to add you now. Thank you for permission to do so. ((HUGS))

I had already gone through my Friends Page today but I'm going to go back to it in case something from you showed up. Guess what I noticed? We both use the same emoticon! You know what they say--Great minds think alike! LOL

Heyhey... I have read and understand your disclaimer. Would you consider adding me as a friend, please? stephanielynch can vouch for me... I have seen your posts on the breast cancer support forum, which is what led me to you. I am also dealing with BC of the left breast, and am Wiccan Clergy here in Atlanta. Hoping to hear from you soon...

Blessings!

Sweet -- someone who can read instructions and follow them! I'll add you right away. I saw that your sentinel nodes were clear -- congratulations! What type of cancer did you have? I'm waiting on genetic testing at the moment.

My saga started April 6 or 7th, if you're inclined to read forward. When did yours start?

thank you and note re disclaimer
glad to have found you again on LJ, and thank you for sharing.

Four kitties live with me, and a couple more trust me to feed them. So far, I haven't fed them any poison. What a roll of the dice this has all been, and so tragic.

Thanks for doing your part to keep people informed.

I have read and agree to the disclaimer. I think I may include a similar warning in my own userinfo page. Thanks for speaking your truths.

Re: thank you and note re disclaimer
*head tilt* Found me again? From ar_wahan, or am I being terribly dense and I actually know you from elsewhere.

We have a metric buttload of issues in common, and where they aren't in common they relate. I've added you back -- most of my stuff is friendslocked, so depending on your level of ambition, you may want to read a bit back.

Re: thank you and note re disclaimer
I'd forgotten about our mutual friend.. I actually found your lj link from a different source, and remembered your handle, just couldn't remember where we'd connected previously.

This was beautifully put-our having a "Metric buttload of issues in common" and elsewhere, "they relate". I'm in complete agreement there.

Will do some reading-thank you!
